The Source of My Laughter

I think a shared laugh brings people closer to each other. A shared laugh is intimate. A shared laugh creates lasting memories. A shared laugh breaks the ice.  A shared laugh adds value to relationships. This is what I’ve learned and this is why I encourage my kid’s sense of humor. I LOL at all their attempts to crack jokes.  It also gives them confidence to speak in public and express their minds. I create stage time for them inside our family structure. No one applauds louder or laughs louder than me. Here are some wise crack lines that have had me LOL and Buahhhahahha’ing…

“Mom, your dinner was not bad, but not good either”

When I ask them to lower their voice, “Mom, I cant. I don’t have a button for that”

“Mom, I love to sit next to you because you feel squishy like bubble gum”

When I’m half way dressed on Sunday Mornings “Mom! you’re not going to church like that ARE YOU?”

“Mo’om(whiny tone), I took a shower ‘that’ other day”

“Hey mom, can I order WWE, its only 50 bucks”

“Why do we have to stand up to use the bathroom and you get to sit?”

“Ma, I hate school, they’re always trying to teach me something”

When they see that 800 number Saturday mornings, advertising some new toy  “Ma, let me see your card real quick”

When they ask me for something in the store. I say I don’t have $$, go get a job “Ma! your the mutha. Use one of those cards you got in that bag of yours”

“I don’t know about God right now. I saw the moon last night and asked Him to bring it to my window so I could see it up close and He didn’t! that just ain’t right, man”

When I’m grossed out by a peculiar smell ” ma, if I don’t let it out, Ill explode”

If I hear a ‘peculiar’ sound, followed by a ‘peculiar’ smell, “It was that barking spider I stepped on”

“Ma the bed you guys got me, hurts my back. I need to sleep with you guys tonight!”

“Why can’t I eat more candy? You want to stay sweet right?”

Always find the joy in child rearing! Kids have a unique way of giving back, through their whimizical questions, unexpected hugs, goofy antics, and those all powerful “I love you, mom”s

Have you appreciated your child’s humor today?
